Tevez Disappointed About Lack Of Argentina Squad Placement
Carlos Tevez is hugely gutted not to have been selected in the Argentina squad for the World Cup and he has decided to go somewhere for a holiday in the duration of the tournament so that he remains completely away from the action.
Tevez’s stats for his club Juventus in the previous season were not bad at all and he was backed by a lot of people to get a place in the final squad of Alejandro Sabella, but, he eventually get left out.
Not only did that shock the player himself, it shocked the pundits of the game as well. But, one should try to understand Sabella’s problem as well. The Argentina boss had so many attacking options in front of him that he had to make a tough call or two. He could not have gone into the tournament with a squad filled with offensive players only.
As far as Tevez is concerned, he has every right to be upset. These are probably the peak days of his career and thus, he may think that he could have made a difference in the World Cup if he had been selected.
Talking to the reporters yesterday about being overlooked by the Argentina management for the World Cup, Tevez said, “I am really sad about not being taken to Brazil. I am not going to watch the matches of the tournament. It would get me frustrated even more. So, I have planned to holiday in this period.”
Tevez’s international record is not extraordinary. In the 64 matches that he has played for the senior Argentina side, he has found the net only 13 times. It’s decent, but, for a forward and that too as potent as him, it’s not great. That goals’ tally should have been reading much higher.
