Pedulla claims Martinez has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has claimed that Lautaro Martinez has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona ahead of a possible summer move. The Argentine is presently in his second season with Inter Milan where he has formed an impressive partnership with Romelu Lukaku in the frontline, scoring 16 goals.
Amidst this, he has been regularly linked with a move to the Camp Nou and Pedulla suggests that the player has already finalised a contract package with the Blaugrana, he told: “The Nerazzurri club cannot lose him from a technical or image point of view. Lautaro has already accepted the offer of over €10 million net per season from Barcelona, who have asked him for clarity on his future. Makeweights in a deal? Inter like Arturo Vidal but Inter think it would be a sign of weakness if they were to accept an offer from an image point of view. Lautaro must not post photos on social networks with the Inter shirt and clarify once and for all his intentions in relation to his future.”
The Blaugrana have earmarked Martinez as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez and the latter has personally welcomed the competition for places. Still, a deal appears far from straightforward, considering the Nerazzurri are reluctant to accept anything less than the player’s £102m release clause to do business with the Blaugrana.
The sum could have been affordable for the Spanish champions in the normal situation but with the ongoing crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, many clubs have been hampered financially with losses due to the games being suspended. As such, there has been the talk of a part-exchange deal where the likes of Arturo Vidal and Rafinha could be offered as makeweights to land Martinez. It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri would accept the proposal.
