CITY EYE TEEN SENSATION FOUND BY SCOUT WHO DISCOVERED TEVEZ
Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on 17-year-old Boca Juniors talent Valentin Barco, who is turning heads in Argentina after breaking into the South American giant’s squad. According to Goal, the Premier League champions are tracking the versatile fullback, with Barco regarded as one of the top prospects at Boca Juniors after being discovered by the same scout who found both Juan Roman Riquelme and former City striker Carlos Tevez.
Able to play at both left-back and left-wing, Barco is one of the youngest players to ever play for Boca Juniors, with only the defender just one of the three players to represent the club aged 17. Whilst Barco still has plenty of development to do, City’s interest could hint that the Manchester giants are keen on adding the Argentine talent to their City Football Group empire.
City have enjoyed success signing and sending talented South Americans to the likes of MLS franchise New York City FC and Uruguay-based club Montevideo City Torque, and Barco could be the latest name to develop at these teams.
At 17 and already playing top-flight football, Barco could quickly emerge as a target for numerous big clubs in Europe, yet City’s early interest in the youngster could see the English giants win the race for the teenager in the coming years.
Moving to Europe already would be a dream for Barco, yet the defender is only just at the start of his career with Boca Juniors, and remaining in the Argentina capital for a year or two is probably the best thing for the youngster’s development.
Indeed, Barco has the quality to become a sensational player in Europe, and for City, they will be wise to allow the South American prospect to develop at Boca Juniors before making a move to Europe, which could happen soon given his talent and potential
